Colorado Intimate Wedding and Honeymoon for Larry & Sheryl at Eastholme in the Rockies (Cascade, Colorado)

Larry and Sheryl were wed on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast in Cascade, Colorado. They are both residents of Salida, Colorado and chose Eastholme for their intimate wedding and honeymoon. The wedding ceremony was held in the formal parlor with a few of their closest friends and family.

Their small formal wedding were the colors of white, black and red.  The ceremony was officiated by Conrad which brought tears to all in attendance for his beautiful words of union.  Following the ceremony was a cake cutting and champagne toast.  Reflections Photography was there to capture the memorable photos of the event.

The newlyweds then took everyone to the North Pole, Santa's Workshop for a whimsical ride on the Carousel and Ferris Wheel (World's Highest - Altitude Ferris Wheel).

Returning back to Eastholme in the Rockies to start their honeymoon as husband and wife, they joined Chef Aron for a romantic dinner for two in their honeymoon cabin.  Six courses of gourmet delights starting with an appetizer to dessert.

It was an honor and privilege to have been part of Sheryl and Larry's special day.  They are such a wonderful couple and kept us all in tears of laughter.  On behalf of Eastholme, it's staff and wedding partners we wish them happiness and a long life as husband and wife.

Emma Coffin Race Lodging Special, Eastholme in the Rockies B&B (Manitou Springs, Colorado)

15th ANNUAL EMMA COFFIN RACE, MANITOU SPRINGS, COLORADO

In honor of Emma Crawford, Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast is offering a 10% discount for two night stays beginning on Friday, October 23rd through October 31st.  Must mention you found our blog to receive this special offer.

The Story of Emma Crawford

Emma Crawford lived in Manitou Springs at the turn of the century, arriving with the hopes that the famous drinking Mineral Springs would help with a cure for her tuberculosis. Sadly, in the summer of 1890 Emma died quite young, just before she was to marry Mr. Hildebrand, an engineer on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway.

Her wishes were to be laid to rest on top of Red Mountain. Her heartbroken fiancee and eleven other men began the arduous task of carrying Emma's coffin up to the top of Red Mountain. It took them all day, working two shifts to scale the 7200 foot Summit. In 1929, after years of stormy weather on the granite mountain the granite gave way and Emma's remains were washed down the side of Red Mountain. Emma was later buried in the Manitou Springs Cemetery in an unmarked grave. An official grave site was granted to her in 2004 to honor her life. Now every year in late October, Manitou Springs remembers this beautiful young woman who loved her town and her Red Mountain with this unique festival.

Today, this macabre event is immortalized with a bit of dark humor, epitomized by the 15th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race; Parade in downtown Manitou Springs, located near Colorado Springs. During the race, participants act as pallbearers as one of their teammates takes a seat in their homemade, and often eccentric, coffins. Racers then run a course, hoping to post the quickest time. Other events are held in tandem with the races, including a tour of the historic Miramont Castle.

Event Details
Friday, October 23rd, Emma’s Wake at Miramont Castle Viewings are 6:00, 6:30 & 7:00pm
Cost is $25.00 ($15.00 Children 12 and under)

Saturday October 24th, Emma Crawford Coffin Festival Race & Parade 12pm-3pm (FREE)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 5, 2009
Contact: Deborah Rice - 719.684.9901

Eastholme in the Rockies CHOSEN AS Best in the Rockies IN THE BEST OF BEDANDBREAKFAST.COM AWARDS

Cascade, Colorado -- The Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast of Cascade, Colorado was selected as Best in the Rockies in the annual Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards, 2009-2010. The Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards are based upon a qualitative and quantitative review of the nearly 50,000 independent reviews submitted to BedandBreakfast.com, the leading online B&B directory and reservation network worldwide.

"BedandBreakfast.com surveys show that independent reviews are the most important factor when choosing a B&B. In fact, according to BedandBreakfast.com's most recent survey, 96% of consumers consider reviews to be somewhere between important and essential when selecting a place to stay, and 12% will not make a reservation at a property without them. We're delighted that inngoers concur that Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast is deserving of its accolades from travelers," explained BedandBreakfast.com's Sandy Soule, one of the most highly recognized authors and a spokeswoman for the B&B industry. "Clearly, the Eastholme in the Rockies earned its stellar reviews from inngoers for its quality accommodations, breakfasts, amenities, and wonderful hospitality and service," commented Soule.

"It's a true honor to be chosen for a Best of BedandBreakfast.com award, and we thank our guests for the positive reviews that resulted in this award, stated Deborah Rice, Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast innkeeper. "It is gratifying that our guests took the time to share their comments about our hospitality, accommodations, breakfasts and attention to the details which set Eastholme in the Rockies apart, commented Deborah Rice.

Here's an excerpt from one of our reviews: We spent four nights at Eastholme. Our stay was even more relaxing than I expected. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Our room was one of the suites with a private bath. We had our own living room, bedroom, and jacuzzi tub. It was a really sweet setup. We were also wonderfully surprised at the full size kitchen on the second floor next to our room. We were able to buy a few groceries and have dinner at the house which was much more relaxing after a day of hiking and rafting. I highly recommend Eastholme. I hope we are able to go back in the future.
