Assault on the Peak - Ultimate Pikes Peak Bicycle Event 8/29/10, Eastholme B&B Lodging Cascade, CO

Check this event OUT !  The first time ever for the Pikes Peak Highway to be open only to bicycles, UP and DOWN.

"Summit Cycling Productions, in cooperation with the City of Colorado Springs, The City of Manitou Springs, the U.S. Forest Service and The Pikes Peak Highway, are proud to introduce the inaugural version of “Assault on the Peak”, a cycling event to the top of Pikes Peak.  This event will be a timed, non-competitive event for the first 1500 riders wishing to challenge the most famous mountain in America. 

The Assault is a fully supported event giving a limited number of cyclist the chance to tackle the hardest climb in North America.  The road is being rented for the day and will be entirely closed to none event automobiles."  Content from the event supporting website.

Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast is located right in the Colorado mountain community of Cascade which is the starting point for the Pikes Peak Highway. Spend the weekend with us and start your "Assault on the Peak" from Eastholme as the highway toll booth is just a short 1.5 miles away [See map below]. You can thus leave your vehicle and belongings with us to avoid the hassles of parking at the gate area.

While here for the weekend please join in on Saturday August 28th for the11th Annual "Buddy Walk" in Manitou Springs (4 miles away by car or bicycle). The Walk promotes awareness and acceptance of individuals with Down Syndrome! From the Manitou Springs CC&VB: Promises to be a fun filled morning of fresh air, beautiful scenery, entertainment, and more. Door prizes for people of all ages. Pledges you raise will help with information and support to individuals with Down Syndrome. The Buddy Walk will start and end at Memorial Park (see map below) in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue. Check in time begins at 8:30am and the walk starts at 10am. Whether you have Down Syndrome, or you know someone who does or just want to show your support, please come and join the Buddy Walk.
